Meet the Artist – Erika Pitera

My name is Erika, and I’ve combined my love of food, art and all things small to create a shop filled with miniature delicacies in one inch scale!

I’ve always had a flair for the creative: I’m a classically trained violinist and pianist, I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in visual journalism, I love to cook, and I’m always excited to learn new hobbies and crafts.

It all started a couple of years ago when I decided to learn needle felting, a sculpture technique using wool and other fibers. I began creating cute little mice, many of which were cooking-related characters, and Gourmet Fuzzies was born!

In an effort to provide my characters with more realistic food and kitchen accessories, I began to explore the possibilities of polymer clay. From there, I watched dozens of videos on YouTube and read tons of tutorials. Through trial and error, my love for miniature making was born.

See more of my work featured in American Miniaturist, DollsHouse & Miniature Scene, and Dollshouse World magazines and SquintBox!

In addition to miniatures, I also practice the art of needle felting. You can learn more about it here!

My “Team”

I live in Orlando with my husband Tom and a motley crew of two adorably stubborn dachshunds and four delightfully mischievous cats. We own a pet photography business, as well, and we’re very passionate about volunteering at our local animal shelter.
