This is Khari, my first attempt at needle felting a male lion! He stands about 7″ tall, and his mane is made from a combination of suri, Lincoln locks and merino wool. I also hand-painted his eyes in a pretty bronze-gold color, and I love the effect of it!
I was asked to create a purple and yellow unicorn for my mother-in-law; it’s the mascot of the cancer survivor’s group she’s in. I named her Nadia, which means hope. I sculpted her horn and hooves from polymer clay, and she has hand-painted glass eyes.
This is Prudence the Horse! She’s a big girl – about 8″ tall – and she has hand-sculpted hooves and hand-painted eyes. I really love her expression and personality!
I’m currently reading Jodi Picoult’s Leaving Time, which is about the disappearance of an elephant researcher, and since I’ve always loved elephants, I was inspired to try my hand at one! Tembo (Swahili for elephant) is an African Elephant, and I just love how he turned out!
